Geoscience excursion and conference dinner
The one-day geoscience excursion will take place on the second day of the conference (13 June 2023) and will offer an overview of monitoring of environmental variables in critical zone observatories. Attendance is not included in the conference registration fee and a separate fee (to be determined, but around €90) for each attendee will have to be paid in cash directly at the conference.
The excursion includes traveling by bus from Naples with a first stop to visit the renowned ancient archeological site of Paestum Guides will show us this site. Paestum (city of roses) was visited by Goethe (Grand Tour, during 1786-1788), who found nice words for describing what he saw (see PDF).
We will then go to the Alento River catchment at the seat of the Velia Bureau of Reclamation at the "Piano della Rocca" earth dam where we will have our lunch. After lunch, in the conference room there will be a presentation of the Alento critical zone observatory and a lightning talk. During the coffee/tea break some posters illustrate the research activities underway in the Alento CZ observatory.
Before returning to Naples, the excursion will conclude with the conference dinner.
