Conference dinner

(maximum number of participants: 150)

The conference dinner will be held at 19:00 on Thursday, 29 August in Utrecht city centre. It can be booked only together with a conference registration for the amount of €50. The venue is a social project, meaning that people who work there are sort of kids that get a second chance to learn a real profession. The standards are high and the food is great. The dinner is organized as a "walking dinner", which means a very informal atmosphere with dishes served in handy formats. Two thirds will be seats and one third will be standing. The idea is to really mix people and to have a chance to talk to a lot of people, instead of the static seating at tables. Drinks will be included in the price, and will include beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Many of the dishes will be served on edible or recycled materials such as banana leaves, so your dinner will have a low carbon foot print.

Field trip

(maximum number of participants: 40)

The conference will be followed by a day field trip led by Johan Vellekoop (KU Leuven) and Jan Smit (Vrije University) on Saturday, 31 August to see K-Pg boundary sequences around the town of Maastricht in the south of the Netherlands. We will depart from Utrecht Central Station at 08:00, returning to Utrecht around 22:00. The field trip will include lunch and an evening meal in local restaurants, included in the cost of the excursion. The field trip can be booked only together with a conference registration. However, the costs (tbd) must be paid in cash directly on-site.
